Recruitment Adviser for Victoria University
Job Purpose
We are looking for a Recruitment Adviser for Victoria University in Melbourne, Australia. The role of the Recruitment Adviser is to support the recruitment of quality students from South Asia into Victoria University’s (VU) courses delivered in Melbourne. Working closely with the Regional Recruitment Adviser – South Asia for Victoria University, the role is responsible for implementing Victoria University’s (VU) recruitment activities in South Asia, ensuring that the activities are aligned with the University’s International Student Growth Strategy, annual country plans for the region, and meeting compliance obligations, and that the activities are delivered on time, to budget and to standard.
Whilst the role is based in Delhi, significant travel to other destinations to support the University’s recruitment activities will be required. The role may be required to travel periodically to Australia. The role requires extensive travel within India and other South Asia markets as required, to conduct recruitment activities. The post holder must be outcomes and results-oriented, resilient, creative and innovative. The post will require extensive travel, including weekends and out of office hours, for which flexible working and time in lieu is offered.

Main Responsibilities
As Recruitment Adviser, you will be required to help the Regional Recruitment Adviser to develop, refine, implement, and, at the conclusion of each recruitment cycle, retrospectively evaluate the effectiveness of Victoria University’s South Asia marketing and recruitment strategy.
Specifically, you will:
1.Identify and maximise student recruitment opportunities for the University in South Asia (with particular focus on India), contributing to the development, implementation and evaluation of recruitment plans and promotional activities
2.Develop positive relationships with key stakeholders within India such as education agents, prospective students, partner institutions, high schools and other key stakeholders. Build strong working relationships with recruitment agents, including telephone and email communication. Conduct regular visits to approved agent offices in Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities across India to interview prospective students and engage with agency staff.
3.Identify new quality high schools and articulation pathway partners in Tier 1 and 2 cities. Conduct school and institution partner visits to build sustainable relationships with staff, and delivering presentations advising high school, college and university students about applying to the University.
4.Assist in the development of the annual recruitment event calendar and assist in event arrangements including booking venues/booths, arranging speakers and invitations, arranging appointments for academics and VU staff, arranging marketing collateral for events
5.Attend and coordinate student recruitment activities throughout India and South Asia, including interview programs and education fairs, providing prospective students and other stakeholders with relevant and accurate advice regarding Victoria University’s offer
6. Support the University’s social media activities focused on engaging with prospective Indian students, parents, agency counsellors and other key influencers
7. Pre-assess applications and provide recommendations regarding the issuing of an offer of admission using the templates and systems provided by the University, in accordance with the guidelines and procedures prescribed by the University
8.Create and maintain student files ensuring that individual applicant records are accurate and current. Maintain up-to-date information on all relevant scholarship schemes in Australia and South Asia, and assist the University in monitoring compliance by its education agents in India with ESOS Act 2000, the National Code 2018 and Agent Code of Ethics along with the facilitation of visits by University employees
9.Conduct background and financial checks of prospective students, on behalf of the University, to ensure that they meet the requirements of a Genuine Temporary Entrant
10.Conduct campaigns to maximise the conversion rate at each stage of the student lifecycle, with a particular focus on increasing the offer to acceptance rate by country and agency.
11.Provide a monthly activity report of activities undertaken on a daily basis and of relevant market updates, as well as produce and interpret student data
12. Provide timely market intelligence updates. undertake other relevant activities by the University, as required
13.In consultation with the University alumni team maintain and develop relationships with key Indian and other South Asian alumni. Provide updates to the University-based alumni team to support ensuring the University’s central alumni database is updated appropriately
Admissions Counseling , International Admissions , Social Media
Experience in international student recruitment, preferably with an Australian focus
Demonstrated knowledge of the Australian higher education sector and relevant high school and university sectors, particularly South Asia
Experience of counselling students and parents
Experience of developing collaborative agreements and is able to demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills to deliver concise written reports, prepare and deliver presentations, provide ethical and accurate study advice, and professionally represent an organization
Demonstrate organizational and project management skills with an ability to prioritize workload, work independently and take initiative within a collaborative small team
Experience in arranging events or marketing initiatives within timelines to contribute to performance targets
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
Knowledge and understanding of Australia and Indian education systems and understanding of the range of issues relevant to Indian students considering study in Australia
Sound knowledge of processes and procedures underpinning successful international student recruitment, such as enquiry management, admissions, immigration issues
Excellent written and oral communication skills with high attention to detail
Ability to communicate confidently and clearly to a wide range of audiences via a variety of media
Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise and establish rapport with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
Creative and innovative approach to strategic thinking and problem solving and ability to operate with a significant degree of initiative and independence
Ability to build successful relationships and networks of contacts, experience in sales or account management, preferably in the higher education sector or in a high value service sector
IT literacy and understanding and knowledge of working with databases and CRM software, Ability to efficiently use the Microsoft Office suite
Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to manage a heavy workload, prioritize competing demands and work to deadlines
OTHER / SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Flexibility and a willingness to work outside of normal office hours, including as required weekends
Ability and willingness to travel alone and for extended periods of time
Legal right to work in India on a full-time basis
Ability and willingness to travel to Australia up to twice a year for training purposes
