HVAC Design Engineer
The Design Engineer will lead Smart Joules’ Central Design efforts by identifying, assessing, and formulating Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs) that deliver a minimum of 20% savings at each JoulePAYS site. The role involves developing detailed techno-commercial analyses, preparing design documents, supporting audits, and designing HVAC systems for JouleCOOL projects. The engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams to innovate energy-saving strategies, ensure high-quality documentation, and support Smart Joules’ mission of making energy efficiency simple, substantial, and profitable.

Any graduation
Identify, assess, innovate energy-saving strategies for client sites.
Guide field engineering teams during facility audits with data formats and checklists.
Develop & maintain ECM Books with techno-commercial evaluations.
Finalize ECMs ensuring minimum 20% energy savings and max 20-month payback.
Prepare ECM Notes, Design Qualifications, BOQs, and monthly savings projections.
Conduct vendor negotiations and create techno-commercial comparisons for major HVAC equipment.
Stay updated on new energy-saving technologies and global trends.
Coordinate with BMS design teams for design intent and deployment scope.
Prepare award applications for client sustainability efforts.
Perform HVAC heat load calculations (using E20/HAP).
Design central AC systems (High side, Low side, VRF, DX, etc.).
Select HVAC equipment (chillers, pumps, cooling towers, AHUs, FCUs, etc.).
Propose value-engineering ideas to clients with BD teams.
Coordinate with draftsmen for drawings: P&ID, GFC, concept layouts.
Own crucial documents: Energy Audit Data, ECM Book, ECM Notes, Design Qualifications, Savings Projections, Design Budgets, VE ideas.
Regularly share best practices across the company.
Maintain Central Documentation folder with updated site-wise data.
HVAC Design
Mechanical/Energy/Electrical engineering background.
3+ years of experience across design, energy management, planning, and execution.
Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset.
Ability to innovate and explore new energy-saving methods.
