Job Purpose

We are looking for a Senior Recruitment Adviser supporting our client the Australian National University (Canberra, Australia). The role will be based in New Delhi, India. The primary role of the Senior Recruitment Adviser will be the formulation and implementation of strategies, relationships and plans, to attract international applications and enrolments for all ANU programs, including the recruitment of quality students from India and possibly South Asia in the long term into the Australian National University’s courses delivered in Canberra. ANU is seeking to diversify its international student cohort and this supports the attraction and conversion of prospective international students from a range of agreed growth markets. Other responsibilities will include assisting in the development and support of institutional partnerships, brand development and agency relationship management. The position will involve frequent interaction with Indian and international stakeholders. Whilst the role is based in New Delhi, significant travel will be required, including weekends and out of office hours, as and when required, for which flexible working and time in lieu is offered as compensatory off. The role may be required to travel periodically to Australia. We are looking for an enthusiastic, driven and flexible candidate with recent experience of working in student recruitment. The post holder must be outcomes- and results-oriented, creative and innovative.

Job Responsibilities:

Main Responsibilities

As Senior Recruitment Adviser, you will be required to lead a team of three and manage and work closely with the client in developing and implementing marketing/communication strategies for recruiting students into ANU programs from specified markets. Additionally, you will be required to develop, refine, implement, and, after each recruitment cycle, retrospectively evaluate the effectiveness of the Australian National University’s South Asia marketing and recruitment strategy marketing and recruitment strategy. Specifically, you will:

1. Identify and maximise student recruitment opportunities for the University in South Asia (with a particular focus on India), contributing to the development, implementation, and evaluation of recruitment plans and promotional activities. Work closely with colleagues in other areas of the Division, in particular with the International Student Recruitment Team, as well as internal University stakeholders such as those in academic Colleges.

2. Carry out the day-to-day activities required to achieve the objectives of this marketing and recruitment strategy: attending exhibitions, undertaking school and college visits, visiting agencies, etc. Contribute to the development and implementation of the region and channel-focused recruitment and communication strategies and plans aligned with wider University recruitment objectives.

3. Develop and maintain positive working relationships with key external stakeholders in India: education agents, school and college counsellors, sponsorship bodies, accreditation bodies, alumni, Austrade, Australian High Commission and Indian Government entities, Austrade, Australian High Commission and relevant Indian government entities etc.

4. Develop and maintain positive working relationships with key internal stakeholders at the Australian National University: Deputy manager (International Student Recruitment), admissions team, colleges, accommodation and other relevant business units.

Responsibilities
1. Work with the Deputy Manager, International Student Recruitment t/o develop and maintain a calendar of recruitment activity for each cycle, this to include agency fairs, school and college visits, and other recruitment-oriented activity.
2. Build and maintain good working relationships with education agencies across India: with their senior staff in agency Head Offices, and with counselling teams in branch offices nationwide. Provide training and support as required, and provide regular feedback on agencies’ performance and market-/ the Australian National University-related observations.
3. Attend agency and other education fairs across India, in person or virtual, representing the Australian National University to a high professional standard, and taking responsibility for the logistical planning around these events in the areas of travel, accommodation and freight, as required.
4. Develop excellent working relationships with University representatives on- and offshore, including with strategically important education agents and high school counsellors.
5. Conduct college visits across India, in person or virtual, making presentations to groups of students at these colleges or one-to-one counselling, and building and maintaining good working relationships with university guidance counsellors, Heads of Offices of International Affairs, Heads of Department, and Principals.
6. Develop and maintain good internal stakeholder relationships (internal to the Australian National University)
7. Provide a consistently high standard of customer service. Engage professionally with students (and with parents/guardians, and including agents etc.) at all stages of the recruitment journey: from the first enquiry, through application and offer-holding, to (ideally) enrollment.
8. Provide timely market intelligence updates. Provide regular market feedback to Marketing and Recruitment team. Maintain central databases of relevant regional key contacts.
9. Provide informed input into branding, and the design and content of India-specific marketing collateral, print and digital. Assist with the production of electronic and print publications and other marketing/advertising opportunities both internally and externally, in cooperation with the ANU Marketing Office
10. Liaise as and when required with the Australian National University’s digital marketing team and provide feedback with respect to India-specific digital and social media marketing
11. Assist in planning and delivering the Australian National University’s events in the market, either virtually and support inbound visits from academic staff and senior management.
12. Create and maintain student files ensuring that individual applicant records are accurate and current. Maintain up-to-date information on all relevant scholarship schemes in Australia and South Asia, and assist the University in monitoring compliance by its education agents in India with ESOS Act 2000, the National Code 2018 and Agent Code of Ethics along with the facilitation of visits by University employees
13. Support campaigns to maximise the conversion rate at each stage of the student lifecycle, with a particular focus on increasing the offer to acceptance rate by country and agency.
14. In consultation with the University, the alumni team maintain and develop relationships with key Indian and other South Asian alumni. Provide updates to the University-based alumni team to support ensuring the University’s central alumni database is updated appropriately

Experience of developing collaborative agreements and can demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills to deliver concise written reports, prepare and deliver presentations, provide ethical and accurate study advice, and professionally represent an
Organisation
Demonstrate organisational and project management skills with an ability to prioritise workload, work independently and take initiative
within a collaborative small team
Experience of counselling students and parents
Experience in arranging events or marketing initiatives within timelines to contribute to performance targets
