WHAT YOU NEED TO GIVE FOR MENTORING?
• Start with 2-3 hours / week to coach students. There’s no upper limit though
• Mentor has to be present physically on site twice a week, for 2-3 hours (in total). No remote mentoring model yet
WHAT YOU GET FOR MENTORING?
INR 4 – 20+ Lakhs / yr, from limited to large time commitments
Experience Range:
5 - 6 years
Educational Qualifications:
B.Tech/B.E ,or M.Tech
Job Responsibilities:
WHAT MENTORS ARE EXPECTED TO DO?
• Coach & mentor students personally on site at agreed times
• Coach students on application building and solutioning
• Create high quality content in partnership with experts and Nujam team
• Define / Refine pedagogy: course structure, peer and individual exercises, mentor requirements and end applications.
• Define / Refine course plan: session, day, week and project wise plan for users, mentors
• Assess students during and at the end of course
WHAT WILL MENTORING BE LIKE?
As a mentor, you will guide students to use their online course content effectively before and after class (“Guys, pls go thru Twitter Bootstrap. We’re gonna build Donald Trump website tomorrow!”), and help them to solution and apply course information in class. Like this
• Start with an objective class has to achieve (“Build a website for Donald Trump”)
• Guide their problem structuring (“who will be users? Web or app? Look and feel?”)
• Guide application building (“What are the best tools, references? Pros and cons?”)
• Give constraints, rules (“Integrate Paul Ryan’s tweets. Show Hillary’s goof videos”)
• Get them to build and compete (“Split into 5 groups and start building now”)
Skills Required:
• 2+ yrs of Android development; 2+ yrs as developer with Java + languages and / or 1+ yr of iOS development • Proficient with Android Framework , Java , SQLite and with JSON/ REST APIs; Android / iOS UI design principles , best practices. UI implementation • Developed SDKs. Adept in code versioning , optimization , push notifications , screen adaptations • Knows open-source Android ecosystem + libraries for common tasks; Offline storage , threading; • Experience with iOS Development: Swift , Objective C. A/B testing. Developing front end appln with HTML5 , CSS , JS • Desirable: Python , C , C++ , e-Wallets
Candidate Attributes:
YOU’VE THESE UNDER YOUR BELT:
• Techie with ~5-6 yrs of experience building mobile tech prods, applications across Android, iOS, other platforms
• BITS, IIT, NIT grads preferred, but other grads / self-taught programmers welcome too
• Tech entrepreneur / Team lead / Tech product manager (not MBA)
• Well networked in tech community.
• Worked in services space: e-comm, travel, hospitality, education, real estate, classifieds, offering tech services etc. or understands that space well
