Backend Developer

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for an experienced backend engineer to join our team. You will have strong experience building a product for users at scale (ideally at a B2C product company), and will be familiar with the latest technologies, libraries and frameworks. The product is in its early stages, so you will have the opportunity to build and scale something from the ground up.

This role is perfect for someone looking for a challenge and the opportunity to take ownership. You will work as a core member of a small, focused team, and will have significant responsibility in helping shape both the product experience and the underlying architecture.

REQUIREMENTS

3+ years experience with backend development
Expertise in any of the scripting languages : Ruby on Rails, Python, Node.js
Deep understanding of software engineering practices, Design Patterns, Data Structures, Algorithms
Expertise in one of relational databases like Postgres or MySQL
Experience in API development
Experience & Knowledge of Docker
Good communication skills
(Bonus) Experience with Cloud computing like AWS / Digitalocean, and infra setup
(Bonus) Understanding of Javascript & Html
RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop new user features and flows, collaborating closely with Product and Design
Write high quality code & unit tests, builds, tests as per agreed timelines
Build apis
Participates in technical design and provides estimation
Own one or more small to medium features
Diagnose and fix bugs and performance bottlenecks for performance that feels native
Becomes a go-to person in at least one area
Reach out to the open-Source Community to encourage and help implement mission
Communicate clearly and get clarification upfront to minimize rework
Consistently follow and promote SDLC best practices: Coding standard, testing, code reviews, code comments etc.
Exhibit strong problem solving skills, helps other developers and demonstrates teamwork
