Data Scientist
Position Description
Working with a team comprising of data scientists, business analysts and client consultants
Leveraging Data Science techniques (text mining, regression, clustering, association principles, random forest, etc.) to create insights that enable internal stakeholders and clients to improve business performance and KPIs along various parameters such as revenue, profitability, cost optimization
Delivering tangible value to business units through data-driven decision making.
Developing analytical models for different projects collaborating with different business stakeholders & other partners and working across a range of technologies and tools.
Identifying the right set of models and developing the right code / package to execute them
Evaluating the validity of the models (both scientifically as well as from a business perspective)
Requirements
General
2+ years of experience in hard-core analytics and/or ML, internal and client consulting driven solutions.
Insurance domain expertise highly preferred.
Self-starter, driven & motivated individual who can thrive in a dynamic start-up environment
Loves working with and visualizing multi-dimensional and large data sets
Hands on experience in developing & deploying analytical solutions using forecasting, optimization, regression techniques & segmentation
Proven experience as a Data Scientist or similar role
Eagerness to learn and ability to work with limited supervision
A knack for statistical analysis and predictive modeling
The ideal candidate has strong background in quantitative skills (like statistics, mathematics, advanced computing, machine learning) and has applied those skills in solving real world problems across different businesses / functions.
Stakeholder Engagement Skills
Working collaboratively across multiple sets of stakeholders – business SMEs, IT, Data teams, Analytics resources, etc. to deliver on project deliverables and tasks.
Identify actionable insights that directly address challenges / opportunities.
Articulate business insights and recommendations (based on model output) to respective stakeholders.
Understanding business KPI's, frameworks and drivers for performance.
Good interpersonal communication skills and influencing skills
Modeling and Technology Skills (Desired)
Expertise in using R or Python, SAS or other statistical software, over and above advanced excel knowledge
Understanding of machine learning techniques (supervised and unsupervised) such as Decision Trees, Neural Networks, Deep Learning, Support Vector Machines, Clustering, Bayesian Networks, Reinforcement Learning, Feature Reduction / engineering, Anomaly deduction, Natural Language Processing (incl. Theme deduction, sentiment analysis, Topic Modeling), Natural Language Generation
Statistics / Mathematics: Data Quality Analysis, Data identification, Hypothesis testing, Univariate / Multivariate Analysis, Cluster Analysis, Classification / PCA, Factor Analysis, Linear Modeling, Logit / Probit Model, Affinity & Association, Time Series, DoE, distribution / probability theory.
Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.
